Useful Knot Tying Guide

One of the handiest skills when you are camping is to know how to tie a good, secure knot.

Here are a few of our tried-and-tested favourites which are simple to master and could come in very useful around your camp. Keeping your guylines tight and tied down is essential, use these knot skills and be camp ready for any weather-related eventualities.

It's also worth taking a few extra tensioners and guyline rope with you just in case you need to make things extra sturdy.

THE OVERHAND KNOT

A simple knot which you can use with tensioners on the end of guylines.

THE OVERHAND ON A BIGHT

This version of the overhand is great for tying guylines to a tarp or putting a fork in your rope.

THE BOWLINE

A very secure knot to use when you connect your guyline to a tarp.

THE TAUT LINE HITCH

This knot is great for if you lose a tensioner on your guyline.

 and finally THE DAISY CHAIN

Not really a knot, but useful for shortening lengths of rope and preventing tangles.
